The book is in good condition, but with the binding being apart, which is reparable. Originally photos came with the book, but about 10 are missing. This is a beautiful book. The binding and paper is high quality. The photos, color plates, and line drawings are outstanding. The book is extremely well researched and it has excellent footnotes.

My only problem with this book is the lack of a good index. I have read numerous books about the Third Reich and the German Police and this is by far 5/5(4). Ordinary Men is the true story of Reserve Police Battalion of the German Order Police, which was responsible for mass shootings as well as roundups of Jewish people for deportation to Nazi death camps in Poland in Browning argues that most of the men of RPB were not fanatical Nazis but ordinary middle-aged, working-class men who committed these atrocities Cited by: World War II German Police Units book.

It is the only agency with police powers in and around the federal legislative building.

The book attempts and succeeds in putting a human face and a positive perception on police interaction with the German citizenry in contrast to the oppressive police presence in Germany during the years of Nazi / Communist street battles and the degradation of the post-World War I.

This continued for a time, even though the rest of the nation's police went over to the green-felt-style shako. German Police in the Nazi State When the Nazis came to power in Januarymany policemen remained skeptical of the party and its intentions.

Nazi agitation, especially in the latter years of the Weimar Republic, had been subversive and the police had been investigating both the Nazis and the Communists with heless, Adolf Hitler posed as a champion of.

In my view, the Heckler & Koch P7 is the only true police pistol of the lot, but possibly too advanced for the sad realities of German police training. The more conventional Walther P5 and SIg-Sauer P6 may better reflect the needs of many coppers, but in essence they are just modified service pistols.

Book “Die Polizei” (The Police) (Item POL ) DESCRIPTION: This is a soft cover book of pages dedicated to the saga of the German Police in the time of the Third Reich. It is highly illustrated with great pictures, a lot of them showing that the police officer is friend to the citizenry and especially to the German children.
